Aliso Viejo, CA – April 19, 2016 –
CloudBerry Lab™,
a leader in cloud-based backup and file
management services to small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), has announced their products fully
connect with Amazon’s new S3 Transfer Acceleration offering. This means CloudBerry Lab customers
can start realizing the benefits of the new AWS service immediately, including upload speeds of up to six
times faster than standard methods.
“CloudBerry’s compatibility with Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration means our users can save days or
even weeks off the time it takes to upload their data to Amazon S3,” says Alexey Serkov, CTO,
CloudBerry Lab. “With this integration, CloudBerry Lab users can right away start experiencing the
significant advantages, including much faster transfers of data and files from Internet locations situated
across long distances.”
Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is the online file storage web service offered by Amazon Web
Services. It is a massively scalable, cost-effective cloud storage solution designed to house the huge
influx of data created by organizations worldwide. It supports a variety of storage functions including
backup, and is ideal for companies requiring protection for large amounts of data, including unstructured
data.
The new Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration offering, announced today, accelerates uploads by creating a
network bridge between clients on the internet and their S3 buckets in various Amazon Web Services
(AWS) regions, using AWS’ network of edge locations. When uploading to an accelerated endpoint,
customers’ TCP sessions are automatically routed to the closest AWS edge location with the fastest
internet connection. From there, the service selects the fastest path to send data back to Amazon S3, using
both the AWS backbone network and network algorithms that are optimized for throughput.
Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration is ideal for customers uploading to a centralized bucket from all over
the world; or customers transferring gigabytes to terabytes of data across continents, on a regular basis.
Support for Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration will be available in CloudBerry Explorer version 4.6 (for
more information, see here), and CloudBerry Backup version 4.8.2, all editions including the free version
(for more information, see here).
