CloudBerry S3 Backup is a powerful Windows program that automates backup and restore processes to Amazon S3 cloud storage.
As always we are adding features to make it easier for our customers to use the functionality and the Virtual Drive has always been one of the sought after features. with the CloudBerry Backup release 2.2 we are adding the functionality that will expose Amazon S3 storage as a local disk.
To map a network drive just Go to File | Accounts and select an account. Go to the Virtual Drive tab, select one of the available drive letters and click ok.
Now you can see the new drive in the system and use any file management tools such as Windows Explorer to work with it.
Note: currently the data is only available in the read-only mode. In other words we suggest to use it if you need fast access to your backup storage and want to copy certain files back to your local disk.
The virtual disk works with Windows XP/Vista/7 and Windows Server 2003/2008/R2 32 and 64 bit.
As always we would be happy to hear your feedback and you are welcome to post a comment.

Works fine .
Thanks you :)
Do you plan to add this for Azure anytime soon?
We already support Virtual Drive for all supported storage including Windows Azure, Google Storage, Scality, etc.
Confused. At the top of this page it says "CloudBerry S3 Backup is a powerful Windows program..." The program I am using is called "CloudBerry Online Backup" Build 2.2.0.105 as per the About Box... Anyway, I want to try the virtual drive, but the options in my Tools menu are Options, Network Credentials, Diagnostic Log, and Language. Don't see a Virtual Drive capability. Am I missing something?
Thank you for trying CloudBerry Backup. To enable a virtual drive go to File | Amazon S3 (or any other storage provider that you use). Create and account and click to the Virtual Drive tab to enable it. The virtual drive is created per storage account.
Since my files are stored encrypted, would this feature decrypt the files? Without that or and offline decrypt tool it is almost useless and will have to stay with the restore feature of the product. Regards.
File decryption feature is not avaialble yet. It is coming with the future releases.
Press release said future release will support writing to virtual drive as well. Will that support encryption?
yes, the future release will also support encryption with the virtual drive.
What is the target date of a new release where you can write to the driveshare in addition to reading from it?
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in the coming features of our product. It is unlikely we will add writable drive to the backup product as manual write might affect backup sequence and as we found out those interested in the virtual drive are not really interested in a regular scheduled backup. Having said that we decided to work on a separate product CloudBerry Drive and you can sign up for a beta here
Its consuming all cpu .
i would like to see crashplan integration before i will buy. but the local hard drive is something i am interested in.
Crashplan is our competitor and there will be no Crashplan support in our products. Sorry
About Crashplan being your competitor: If I could get the capabilities of Crashplan in your product without java I'd become your customer and a former Crashplan customer.
