As always we are trying to stay on top of the new functionality offered by Google Storage team to offer the most compelling Google Storage client on Windows platform. In this release of CloudBerry Explorer for Google Storage we are adding a Resumable Upload feature supported by the underlying platform.
The Google Storage for Developers API provides a resumable data transfer feature that lets you resume upload operations after a communication failure has interrupted the flow of data. Resumable uploads are useful if you are transferring large files because the likelihood of a network interruption or some other transmission failure is high. Also, by using the resumable upload feature you can reduce your bandwidth usage (and therefore your bandwidth cost) because you do not have to restart large file uploads from the beginning.
You can turn Resumable Upload in Tools | Options | Multipart Upload menu. you can also define the size for the part which is 10 MB by default.
When downloading the large file CloudBerry Explorer will split it into the smaller parts behind the scene. You can Pause the upload process and Resume it later. in case of communication failure you will only have to re-upload the missing parts, not the whole file.
CloudBerry Backup customers will be pleased to know that we are about to add Google Storage for Developers as another storage option to the product. Stay tuned!
