CloudBerry S3 Explorer: What’s new with AWS Import / Export

Note: this post applies to CloudBerry Explorer 2.2 and later.

AWS Import/ Export service also you to send a media device to Amazon so that the data is uploaded to S3.

It has been recently extended with the API and the newer release of CloudBerry Explorer fully supports that API to offer some advanced functionality such as the list of current import / export jobs, Import Job Wizard and Export Job Wizard. Those wizards made available in addition to the existing functionality that helps you create the manifest and signature. We are thinking though that the API will become a preferred way to create and manage AWS Import/Export jobs.

Why it is better? Here is the number of improvements.

1. Easily create Import and Export Jobs without sending an e-mail

2. Manage your Import/Export jobs: List your existing jobs, Update jobs, Check job status on the fly, Cancel job (you can cancel several jobs by selecting several items in list).

3. Print the packing slip

4. you can save SIGNATURE and manifest file from existing jobs (using Get Status option)

And here is a number of screenshots to tease you. The full instruction is coming as a blog post and as a part of the online help.

I am a cloudberry customer using the latest version of the backup s/w. I backup my drives with encryption and this is to Amazon S3.
What'd i'd like to do is to have my entire S3 buckets dumped to a drive i am going to send them and then when i get it back to my place, 'restore' from that drive to another machine instead of doing it across the internet.
How do i ensure that when i 'restore' from that drive, the decryption will happen properly?
