CloudBerry Online Backup – Intro

CloudBerry Online Backup is a Windows product that automates backup and restore processes and works with your Amazon S3 storage accounts.

It has been awhile since we first announced that we are working on the product. Being a small company without external funding it is hard to make several products at the same time and we are proud to announce that CloudBerry Online Backup is currently in beta.  We really want this product to be community driven just like CloudBerry Explorer freeware and we are going to run an extended beta and gather as much user feedback as we can before finally releasing the product.

Remember all beta testers will get a FREE commercial license when the product is out!

Backup Wizard

Backup Wizard is designed to help you start using the product and create backup plans.  While running the wizard you will specify files and folders to backup, compression and encryption settings, retention period and backup schedule.

On the first pass of the Wizard you will also have to specify your Amazon S3 account access /security keys and a bucket where you want backup files to be stored. If you don’t have a bucket the product will create it for you.

Backup Plans

On the backup plan screens you can get an overview of your backup plans as well as monitor the progress of currently running backup plan, pause and stop it. The storage capacity indicator always shows you how much space is currently consumed by your backup.  From this screen you may run restore for a certain plan just click “Restore Files” that will guide you to the Restore Wizard.

Online Backups

Online backups screen is designed to help you browse your backup storage. You can locate files and its versions there. You can also restore individual or multiple files right from this screen

Restore Wizard

Restore Wizard helps you quickly and easily restore individual files or the whole backup sets as specified in backup plan.

Here is the list of CloudBerry Online Backup features

1.       Backup wizard helps you to configure a backup plan and start copying your files to cloud storage in a matter of minutes.

2.       Restore wizard will guide you through the restore process.

3.       Files versioning will create a version of the files every time the file is changed. It will help you to revert to any of the version of the file later. It works closely with Point in time restore feature.

4.       Intelligent backup will identify only the files that were modified since the last backup and copy only those files to the storage.  This will help to speed up and eliminate excessive storage and transfer fees.

5.       Retention policies help you to define for how long to keep a copy of the file in the backup storage and how many versions of the file. It helps to further reduce your storage costs while maintaining the copies of the files.

6.       Point in time restore will help you to get a file or the whole folder with file to any point in the past.

7.       Backup storage browser is available on Online Backups screen helps you quickly locate a file and restore it.  It will be extended with a search function in the future.

8.       Encryption capabilities help ensure that only authorized users can access the contents of your backup storage.

What is coming next

We know that virtual drive feature is something that is very popular among Amazon S3 users. It helps to expose Amazon S3 storage as a local disk. We are working hard to add virtual drive to the product.

Conclusion

As you can see CloudBerry Online backup is a product that matches in functionality with more established vendors.  We are excited about cloud storage technologies and we believe into the future of our online backup solution.  Take part in our beta program, make impact on the final product and get your FREE license!

I was a beta tester and I understand beta testers were able to get a free commercial license. How do I go about redeeming this?
